Rio Olympics 2016: Team GB’s heroes land at Heathrow after sipping champagne – then have a mass confusion over finding their matching luggage

BRITAIN'S Olympic heroes have landed on home soil after a record-breaking Games - before sparking a massive bag confusion.

Team GB took home 67 medals in Rio - the most ever by a British team overseas - and became the first nation to win more bling in an Olympiad after they hosted one.

Rowing gold medallist Helen Glover tweeted that the Brits sang 'God Save the Queen' as it was played over the tannoy after flight BA2016 landed and pulled into the terminal.

And then double gymnastics gold medallist Max Whitlock and boxer Nicola Adams led the Brits down the steps as the doors opened.

But being an Olympic gold medallist doesn't leave you immune to the usual travel problems.

Every single Team GB suitcase was exactly the same - and after the athletes landed they had to sift through hundreds of bags to find the right one.

The entrance was not too glam though as the athletes had to walk across the tarmac and on to a series of busses to make their way back into the terminal.

The closing ceremony took place in the rain on a stormy night in Brazil - and the Brits even dazzled there, as they wore jazzy FLASHING trainers.
