Daily Spread Betting Round-up
There were plenty of big winning bets from the weekend’s online betting action and we have scanned through the results to find three bets where our spread betting punters came out on top.
There was late drama in Aston Villa’s win over Arsenal and Brighton’s draw with West Ham, but the most dramatic match of the weekend came at Elland Road, where Leeds twice pegged Liverpool back to draw 3-3.
After a non-event of a first half, Liverpool roared into life, seizing on two Leeds errors early in the second half to go 2-0 up. From there, it looked like the Reds would see the rest of the game out and cruise to a much-needed three points. However, Ibrahima Konate had other ideas and a mindless foul on Wilfried Gnonto saw Dominic Calvert-Lewin convert the resultant penalty.
Two minutes later, United were level through Anton Stach, but Liverpool edged back in front after a well worked team goal saw Dominik Szoboszlai slot home. Again, all Liverpool had to do was see out the game, but the hosts had other ideas, with Ao Tanaka slotting home a late winner to heap the pressure on Arne Slot.
It has been a brilliant week for Leeds fans and Saturday was also a brilliant night for buyers at 143-153 on our Total Goal Minutes football spread betting market. With the spread settling at 416, buyers won a whopping 263x their stake.
Welsh international Louis Rees-Zammit broke Llanelli hearts at the weekend as his try midway through the second half was enough for Bristol to edge past Scarlets in a gripping contest.
The Bears had opened a 12-point lead early in the match thanks to two tries from Viliame Mata, but Llanelli fought back. A converted Gareth Davies try and three penalties from Sam Costelow had put Llanelli in front, but an error from the restart allowed Bristol back in as Rees-Zammit touched down to seal a 17-16 win.
When you place a sell bet on the Winning Margin x Total points market, you dream of a one-point difference between the two sides at the full-time whistle and those dreams came true in West Wales. Before the match, the spread was available to trade at 862-1038, but with the final make-up just 33, sellers landed a huge winning bet of 829x their stake.
There was genuine hope that when England travelled to Australia, they would be returning with The Ashes. A few short weeks and two drubbings later, the aim now is to avoid becoming one of the most embarrassing England touring sides in the modern era.
The Gabba was the scene for the latest humiliation and having won the toss and opted to bat, England managed to score 334 runs, with Joe Root scoring 138 of them. Four English batsmen departed without scoring, but the hosts made it look much easier, with plenty of players going on to make decent scores as the Aussies scored 511 runs in their first innings.
It could have been much worse for England with Jake Weatherald, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Alex Carey, and Mitchell Starc all making a half century without converting. Still, their tally of 511 was enough to heap the pressure on England, with the tourists ultimately crumbling once again.
A score of 511 was also more than enough for buyers on our Australia 1st Innings Rus spread at 345-360 as those buyers landed a win of 151x their stake.
