When will it come out?

Samsung fans were dealt a blow after the Galaxy Note 7 explosion debacle pushed the S8 release date back until April.

The new model was finally unveiled on March 29 and it's finally been released TODAY.

The phone makers revealed that wrong sized batteries were to blame for the Note 7 which overheated and was recalled.

The South Korean firm may have postponed this launch in order to fully investigate those problems.

As the phone was launched, Samsung execs took to the stage and promised it has been rigorously tested to ensure that it doesn't explode in people's hands.

How much will it cost?

Getting your hands on the hotly-anticipated phone will not come cheap – the S8 is priced at £690, while the S8+ will cost £780.

This is a significant rise from the entry-level options for the S7 and S7 Edge, which were £569 and £639 respectively.

For customers in South Korea who bought the ill-fated Note 7 they can get some money off the new phone, by trading their old model in.

What features will the Samsung Galaxy S8 include?

The Sun Online ran the rule over the high-end gadget ahead of launch with a hands-on review.

This Android blower ticks the boxes that matter – viewing, comfort, camera and speed.

Unlike the clumsy tablet smartphone hybrids of late, the S8 and S8+ has a mammoth infinity screen that doesn’t compromise on comfort.

It’s all down to the rounded edges and stripped away bezels, light weight and the removal of the home button.

Wave goodbye to smartphone wrist, because it lets you snap selfies, stream films and run your life comfortably using just one hand.

The screen size hasn’t increased that much since the S7 generation, but the absence of the screen and home button frame makes it feel a lot larger than before.

It comes with the industry’s first 10nm chip for speedy processing and has snazzy biometric unlocking tech to keep it super secure.

A fingerprint sensor placed on the back means you can access your phone as you pick it up, and improved front camera sensor lets you unlock your phone with your face.

The new phone integrates with lots of smart home products, too.

A new docking system called Samsung Dex lets you turn your mobile into a desktop PC.

Simply place it in the dock and your phone apps will appear on your screen and let you take calls using the speaker while you browse.

Brits who snap up the new phone can also look forward to a useful voice assistant called Bixby, which lets you control your phone using your voice alone.
