Samsung owners warned to check two settings on their phones to avoid ‘vampire’ bills silently draining bank accounts
There's a third option to consider too
YOU might be throwing away money each month and not even realizing.
If you've got a Samsung phone – or any Android device – then there's a type of "vampire" bill to look for.

These bills are your in-app subscriptions, which can turn up in several places.
It's easy to forget that you signed up for a subscription.
And you might have even signed up to something by accident and not realized.
Thankfully it's extremely easy to check on your subscriptions and put a stopper on their charges.
GALAXY STORE SUBSCRIPTIONS
Your first port of call should be Samsung's Galaxy Store app.
This is Samsung's own app store and will be able to show you any subscriptions made inside apps you've downloaded from there.
Samsung explains: "You can cancel a subscription from the Galaxy Store menu.
"You must be logged in to Galaxy Store in order to see your subscriptions.

"After you cancel a subscription, you can still use it until the service period ends."

Just go to the Galaxy Store and then tap Menu > Subscriptions.
Choose an app that you're paying money for and then select Unsubscribe to cancel the subscription.
PLAY STORE SUBSCRIPTIONS
If you're an Android user then there's a good chance you've been downloading your apps from the Google Play Store instead.

Google explains: "Subscriptions on Google Play are for an indefinite term.
"And you’ll be charged at the beginning of each billing cycle according to your subscription terms (for example, weekly, annually, or another period), unless you unsubscribe."
To cancel a subscription, go to the Google Play Store and navigate to Subscriptions.
Choose the subscription that you're looking to terminate and tap Cancel Subscription, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Samsung performance tricks – how to speed your phone up
Here's the official list of tips from Samsung...
Check your storage:
Samsung says: "Freeing up some storage can make your phone perform better. Remove files and apps that need clearing out by using Device care."
Just go to Settings > Battery and Device Care > Storage and delete unwanted files.
Close unused apps:
Samsung says: "Device speed can slow when apps are running in the background. Keep your device in optimal running condition with Optimisation."
Just go to Settings > Battery and Device Car > Memory > Clean Now.
Check to see if your software is up to date:
Samsung says: "Updating your software to the latest version can help improve your phone's performance as it increases compatibility and provides bug fixes as well as security patches."
Just go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
Turn your phone off and back on again:
Samsung says: "Restarting your phone is a simple way to clean up any unused app running in the background and speed things up. Automatically restart your phone periodically with "Auto restart'."
Go to Settings > Battery and Device Care > Menu > Automation and set up automated restarts.
You should still be able to access the service for the time that you've paid for.
Google notes: "When you cancel a subscription you’ll still be able to use your subscription for the time you’ve already paid.
"For example, if you buy a one-year subscription on January 1 for $10 and decide to cancel your subscription on July 1, you’ll have access to the subscription until December 31.
"You won’t be charged another yearly subscription of $10 the following January 1."

Some apps might also let you pause a subscription.
This will pause the subscription at the end of your current billing period – and can then be restarted.
