Apple unveils iOS 11, HomePod, iMac Pro and 10.5-inch iPad Pro at WWDC 2017
Tech firm shows off the gadgets and software it will release during the rest of the year

FOR APPLE fans, today was like Christmas and Easter rolled into one.
Techies from all around the world flocked to Apple's Californian HQ for the Worldwide Developers' Conference (WWDC) - an annual event where the tech firm shows off its latest gadgets and software.
Tim Cook, CEO, said this year's event would be "the best and biggest" as he prepared to unveil the tech giant's first new product range since the Apple Watch and a whole host of other treats.
Here are all the announcements from WWDC 2017.
iPad Pro 10.5 inch
The world's most famous tablet computer will now come in a new size of 10.5 inches.
Two models of iPad Pro are now on sale, with the larger 12.9 coming in at a slightly more expensive price than the new 10.5 inch model.
Both of the gadgets are fitted with a super powerful new processor chip and a speedy graphics processor.
The tablets aren't cheap, starting at a price of £619 in the UK.
But they are certainly powerful and should be future proof, because Apple has a long-standing history of updating and supporting its gadgets for at least five years.
New iMacs and Macbooks
Apple unveiled new affordable iMacs and Macbooks at a tempting price, but also a massively powerful and expensive iMac Pro.
It will have a 27-inch Retina 5K display, up to 18-core Xeon processors and up to 22 Teraflops of graphics computation, making it the most powerful Mac ever made.
But at $5,000– it’s not exactly an impulse purchase for most iFans.
iOS 11
Tim Cook, CEO, said the new software for iPad and iPhone has been “turned up to 11”.
It includes major changes to Apple Pay and Messages as well as the Camera and Photos apps.
The software will be released later this year, but a beta version is already rolling out to developers.
People who install the software on iPads will notice the bigger change, as it will introduce new apps and workflow refinements which will make Apple's tablet feel a bit more like a traditional computer.
HomePod
This was the big announcement of the night and is Apple's first major product to be launched since the Apple Watch.
It's a Siri powered smart speaker and home assistant that can "rock the house", according to Apple.
The gadget is a bit like Amazon's Echo, but likely to feature much better sound quality.
It will cost about £350 but appears to be a much more luxurious and high end product than competitors' offerings.
WatchOS 4
Apple Watch owners aren’t going to get much time to sit around.
A brand new update will sync the wearable to gym machines and give the device its own High Intensity Interval Training feature.
There’s a new flashlight, improved dock feature and even a special playlist which begins automatically when you start working out.
MacOS High Sierra
Tim Cook said Mac computers are the 'heart and soul of Apple' as he showed off a new version of the software that powers Macbooks and iMacs.
The new operating system is called High Sierra and "delivers important forward-looking technologies and new opportunities for developers wanting to tap into the power of machine learning and create immersive VR content on the Mac,” according to Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering
The Mac software has a new file system with built-in encryption to keep your sensitive information safe and super speedy graphics using a system called Metal 2.
