Instagram apologises for suspending conservative firebrand Lauren Southern for posting pictures of a ‘tubby’ hedgehog
LAUREN Southern has blasted Islam, immigration and dubbed Black Lives Matter an "ethnic terrorist organisation".
But it appears that posting pictures of overweight hedgehogs were the final straw for Instagram, which suspended her account in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The controversial Canadian right-wing activist and commentator was banned after posting a snap of a tubby pet.
Instagram has since apologised, telling The Sun Online its decision was a mistake.
A spokeswoman said: "We mistakenly suspended her account and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. We have restored the account."
The Insta-ban follows shocking violence during a white nationalist march in Charlottesville, where one woman was killed.
Lauren has since blamed "left wing support groups" for giving her picture a red flag.
Comments under the offending picture read: "Oh you are the racist.
"May the Lord heal your heart of all the anger you have on others!"
She later tweeted messages from one account holder who said he had reported her for "fat shaming hedgehogs".

Since leaving the channel, she regularly posts videos from political protests to YouTube.
She famously dubbed British protesters who stole her hat and tried to remove her from outside parliament for asking questions as "fascists".
Southern is a regular fixture on the sidelines of Black Lives Matters protests, often protesters during rallies.
Just weeks ago she was banned from Patreon, a site which allows donors to fund freelancers' work.
The US-based fundraising website removed Lauren for her relation to the far-right Defend Europe project.

Defend Europe sent an anti-immigrant ship to stop refugees from crossing Mediterranean but ran out of funds after its accounts were blocked.
British charity HOPE not hate alerted Patreon, who said they were pulling the plug on Southern and her peers because they were "planning activities that are likely to cause loss of life".
Southern's controversial feminist and ultra conservative political leanings are shared by famous British far-right journalist Milo Yiannopoulos.
The home-bred alt-right figurehead has become something of a celebrity in the US.
But his book deal was scrapped after videos emerged in which he appeared to condone paedophilia.
After publishing Dangerous independently in July, Milo announced that he sold hundreds of thousands of copies.
Independent book sales analyst Nielsen Bookscan state that to date, 150, copies have been sold in the UK, .
But Yiannopoulos dubbed the figures as "fake news".
