When was Fortnite Season 5 released?

On June 27, 2018, Epic revealed Fortnite Season 5 will officially begin at 9 a.m. UK time on July 12.

The Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks once more, which equates to around £8.

The first set of challenges has also been released which includes a new structure that contains both free and premium tasks for Battle Pass holders and regular players.

After weeks of speculation and wacky interdimensional rifts, the theme has finally been entitled Worlds Collide and Week 1's challenges have already been released.

What new skins are there in Fortnite season 5?

As always a new Battle Pass brings with it plenty of new skins, emotes and pickaxes and the main customisable upgradeable skins this time are called Drift and Ragnarok.

Ragnarok is this season's level 100 reward whereas Drift will require a mere 200k XP to unlock to its full potential.

Other skins in the Battle Pass include Huntress, Redline, Sun Strider, Sledgehammer and Rook.

New emotes include the Gentleman's Dab and Breakdown as well as new toys for Battle Pass holders such as the basketball and the golf ball which are accompanied by fancy unlockable versions.

Is there a new map?

Season 5 seemed likely to be reshaping the map as season 4 did, courtesy of a Chekhov's missile that was lurking on the map's metaphorical mantelpiece.

The portentous projectile finally went off over the weekend and looked to be on its way towards Tilted Towers -- but the fan-favourite high-rise zone was saved again, with the missile bouncing off some sort of protective shield before heading back into the sky, where it exploded leaving what looks to be the start of some sort of rift.

The season 5 patch confirmed that the map had undergone some of the biggest changes since season 3.

Moisty Mire has been wiped from memory in place of a new desert biome called Paradise Palms, a tropical-themed location in the south-east area of the map.

Original location Anarchy Aches has also paved way for the introduction of beachside holiday site Lazy Links.
