PS4 Pro ‘500 Million’ console sold out – but scalpers make THOUSANDS selling £450 limited edition console on eBay

SCALPERS are already flogging Sony's new limited edition range of PS4 Pro consoles on eBay for thousands of pounds.
The £450 'PS4 Pro 500 Million' console went on sale yesterday, but sold out in the UK very quickly.
Now cash-hungry scalpers are trying to turn on a profit after snapping up the consoles.
Sony announced the new console earlier this month as a way to celebrate the sale of more than 525.3million PlayStations globally.
But a limited run of just 50,000 units meant that online stores sold out of the special edition console in a matter of hours.
The Sun has found dozens of listings for the console on eBay, with prices rising up to nearly £4,000.
Currently, the most expensive listing is priced at £3,983.61 on a buy-it-now basis with £52.95 postage.
The listing has 31 watchers, despite the listings being for pre-orders only – the console doesn't actually start shipping until August 24.
The highest "sold" listing we saw was £1,138.17, while most others typically ranged between £700 and £800.
That means scalpers are generally bagging a profit of around £250 to £350.
It's a real shame for dedicated PlayStation fans who may have missed out on the chance to purchase one – only to be beaten by scalpers.
Speaking about the launch of the product, PlayStation's marketing chief Eric Lempel said: "With 500 Million PlayStation systems sold, that means countless adventures into the unknown, courageous stands against evil, and life-long memories of playing with family and friends.
"Thank you to all our fans for your passionate support over the past 24 years, which made all of this possible."
The special edition PS4 Pro models come with a generous 2TB of storage, a translucent blue case, and cool copper etchings.
There's also a commemorative copper plate on the front of every model with its limited edition serial number etched on.
Some are more valuable than others, it turns out.
For the very lucky few who can get them, we have a few ‘extra special’ hardware units with serial numbers that commemorate important events in the history of PlayStation," Lempel explained.
"Keep your eyes peeled for these ‘extra special’ serial numbers like 09995 (U.S. Launch Date of the original PlayStation – September 9th, 1995), 01115 (U.S. launch date of PS4 – November 15, 2013) and 01013 (U.S. launch date of PS VR – October 13, 2016)."
It's likely that once gamers find out which serial numbers they got, we'll see PS4 Pro 500 Million editions selling for far higher than £4,000.
