POKÉMON first seen in the Diamond, Pearl and Platinum games are now starting to appear in Pokémon Go.

The fourth-generation creatures were introduced when the main games' story reached the Sinnoh region.

What Pokémon are available now?

Sightings of Turtwig, Grotle, Chimchar, Monferno, Piplup, Starly, Staravia, Staraptor, Bidoof, Bibarel, Cricketot, Kricketune, Buneary and Lopunny have been reported from across the world.

There are also reports of Chatot, Carnivine and Pachirisu, but those are more limited.

Chatot has only -- according to the Pokémon whisperers of TheSilphRoad -- been seen in the Southern Hemisphere, while Carnivine has only been spotted by Pokémon Go players in the south-eastern USA, the area to which Venus Flytraps are native.

Pachirisu looks to be a particular challenge, as it is limited to the northern reaches of Canada, Alaska, and some of northern Russia.

Which Evolutions are available?

At the moment none of the evolutions to older Pokémon which arrived in Gen 4 are available.

You can evolve the Sinnoh-region beasts you catch, though, so you can add a total of 20 new Pokémon to your Pokédex.

When are the rest coming out?

More waves of Pokémon have been promised in the coming weeks; we will update you as soon as we hear more.

What else has changed with this update?

A bunch of existing Pokémon had their stats changed to shift the balance of power in gyms.

Blissey and Chancey have both taken the biggest hits in terms of their defensive power, while Rhydon, Snorlax and Slaking have also taken a significant pounding.

Meanwhile, Mewtwo, Deoxys, Alolan Dugtrio and Gengar are among the creatures to get the biggest boost to their combat powers.

This means that the current top ten Pokémon in terms of raw combat power are Slaking, Groudon, Kyogre, Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, Tyranitar, Rayquaza, Latios, Metagross and Lugia.
