How do you get 5G coverage, what’s the price and how is it different to 4G?

THE UK's super-fast mobile network 5G has been running since May - but it is only on two networks and in select cities.
We explain below how you can get 5G coverage, how much it costs and which networks you can use it on.

Where and when did 5G launch?
EE launched 5G in London, Cardiff, Belfast, Edinburg, Birmingham and Manchester on May 30.
The company, owned by BT, hopes to reach 1,500 by the end of 2019.
This will include the “busiest parts” of Bristol, Coventry, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield.

Vodafone turned on its 5G network on July 3.
Vodafone currently only serves seven cities across the UK – and only select areas in those cities.
You'll need to live in London, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester or Glasgow to benefit from Vodafone's 5G.

Three switched on its 5G network on August 19 – though it's not available on your phone just yet.
Its 5G powered home broadband service is available in London, giving customers in the capital hyper-fast home internet speeds.
In London, Three's 5G broadband is now available in a very limited selection of areas - Camden, Camberwell and Southwark.
Three is launching the service with a single £35-a-month plan that offers "truly unlimited" access on a one-year contract.
The company is launching 5G in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester by the end of 2019.

O2 has promised to launch 5G in six cities by October - followed by another 14 before the end of 2019.
The last of the four main UK networks to switch on 5G is expected to offer the service in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds, London and Slough.
This expected to extend to 14 more areas by the end of 2019, and 30 extra locations by summer 2020.

In August 2019, Digital Secretary Nicky Morgan pledged a radical overhaul of planning laws to make Britain’s countryside communities among the first to benefit from 5G internet.
Is 5G expensive?
EE says that you will need a 5G phone and a 5G Smart Plan.
For EE the first plans start from 10GB at £54 a month.
It will go up to £74 a month for 120GB.
EE has also confirmed a number of devices that will be able to support the new 5G network.
These included the delayed Samsung Galaxy Fold, the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G, the Oppo Reno 5G and the LG V50 ThinQ.
Apple will not launch an iPhone that can support 5G until 2020 at the earliest.
The states: "Vodafone 5G will cost the same as 4G, because we don’t think you should have to pay extra for a better experience. Our Unlimited 5G ready plans start from £23 a month."
Is 5G better than 4G?
The fastest current 4G mobile networks offer about 45Mbps, which is megabits per second.
The industry is still hopeful it can achieve 1Gbps, which is equal to 1,000 Mbps.
5G is much faster than 4G.
For now, users can achieve about 150-200Mbps.
However, when The Sun tested out the 5G speed they saw high speeds of 315Mbps and even 420Mbps.
Communications watchdog Ofcom suggests in time 5G could offer speeds up to 20Gbps.
