Best Fortnite controller settings used by the pros could instantly up your game

LOADS of top Fortnite pro players have shared their joypad secrets, which means you can now perfect your own settings.
While a keyboard and mouse is more precise and more customisable, some players prefer the serious leg-up from aim assist that comes when using a controller to make up for the lack of precision.
Controllers, even the most basic ones, are also more customisable than you might think.
One of the more important ways to customise you controller is to find the level of sensitivity that works for you.
Controller sensitivity affects your thumbsticks, and how each movement of your fingers translates to the screen.
Some players prefer to have different sensitivities for different directions, with most pros preferring to be able to look around slightly more quickly than they scan up or down.
You also want this sensitivity to be different depending on what you're doing -- if you're looking down the sights of your gun you want a totally different speed to when you're running around trying to scope out what's around you.
Fortnite has the further complication of having build and edit modes to consider as well, making it much harder to find the right settings than in some other more traditional shooters.
Thankfully, many pros are very open about the settings they use, and respond to fan questions about them to help out their followers.
One kind Reddit user has taken the trouble to go through the top controller players' social media feeds and gathered all this information, and collated it into one handy .
We've replicated the findings above too, so you can see where you're going wrong.
While the exact settings you use are down to personal preference, there are some useful trends you can gather from the above data to get you started.
Your X-axis sensitivity should be slightly higher than your Y-axis sensitivity, and you want your ADS (that stands for "aiming down sights") value to be about half your standard sensitivity for increased precision.
Scope sensitivity wasn't included in the round-up, but this should sit between the two because you want high precision, but the increased zoom means you've got more leeway - and further to move the cursor.
Is it dedication, or addiction?
GAMING addiction is a hot topic, and many dedicated gamers might be worried that they're crossing the line.
But how can you tell if you're playing too much, and determine if you should think about cutting down?
The World Health Organistation has revealed nine criteria for gaming disorder - if five or more apply to you, you may be officially an addict.
- preoccupation with games
- withdrawal symptoms when gaming is taken away
- tolerance, resulting in the need to spend increasing amounts of time engaged in games
- unsuccessful attempts to control participation in games
- loss of interest in previous hobbies and entertainment as a result of, and with the exception of, games
- continued excessive use of games despite knowledge of psychosocial problems
- deceiving family members, therapists, or others regarding the amount of gaming
- use of games to escape or relieve negative moods
- jeopardizing or losing a significant relationship, job, or education or career opportunity because of participation in games.
Meanwhile, your build sensitivity should be through the roof so you can quickly make complex structures - you need to cover a pretty big distance on screen from one building piece to the next compared to the move you'll make from one shot to the next in combat, so this makes sense.
Most players have their edit sensitivity turned down a bit from build, but there is much less agreement here than on other settings.
Finally, all the pros have their deadzone settings turned way down. This has a similar effect to sensitivity, but governs when your controller starts to register movement.
The lower the number, the less movement you need to start your cursor moving.
Exactly how low is up to you, and significantly lowering it can take some getting used to because you'll find your slightest twitches translated on screen in a way you won't have experienced before.
So there you have it - good hunting.
