Big change to iconic Alton Towers ride was made after major complaints

IF YOU have been to Alton Towers then you've probably been on the terrifying Oblivion rollercoaster.
But do you remember that before you used to plunge 180ft down into the ground, a voiceover would come on and say 'don't look down'?
The sound effect was scrapped back in 2004, so you might remember it if you rode the rollercoaster before then.
A theme park expert has revealed why Alton Towers decided to ditch the scary voiceover.
Tiktok user explained that people who lived nearby complained about noise coming from the theme park.
Following their complaint, a new sound restriction was put on the park, which forced Alton Towers bosses to remove the voiceover.
The Tiktok user said: "When the ride holds you before dropping down its 180ft drop, it used to say don't look down, however the park removed this phrase from the ride.
"This was because local residents complained about the amount of noise that was coming from the ride and it was believed that the phrase was causing people to scream louder.
"So to try and keep the noise levels down at the park, they decided to remove it from the drop."
Around the same time as the sound effect was removed, a Disney World ride was closed down because it was so terrifying.
ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter opened in Magic Kingdom and offered a spine-tingling experience that terrified those who were brave enough to enter.
The attraction was Disney's first venture into a fully immersive, scary attraction, and was plagued with controversy as guests complained it was too frightening.
Disney fans have been shocked to learn the truth about another Magic Kingdom ride.
The popular It's A Small World features more than 300 animatronic dolls which move around and sing the famous song.
But a Tiktok user revealed that the dolls need their hair cutting because it grows.
The dolls have hair made of yarn which stretches over time due to the humidity in the air, so each doll is given an annual hair cut to keep their hair from growing too long.
We've rounded up all the new rides and attractions opening at UK and Disney theme parks this year.
