The popular budget airline that’s the worst in the UK for flight delays – are you flying with it this summer?

A POPULAR budget airline has clinched the title of the UK's worst for flight delays.
Passengers were forced to wait an average of 31 minutes 36 seconds over their expected departure time - longer than any other airline.
Spending three consecutive years at the bottom of the punctuality list, Wizz Air was ranked "the worst airline for delays" in 2023.
However they acknowledge there was "still work to be done".
Wizz wasn't the only airline flagged up for it's poor punctuality.
Turkish Airlines followed closely with an average delay of 28 minutes and 36 seconds last year, trailed by Tui (28 minutes and 24 seconds), Air India (28 minutes and 12 seconds), and Pegasus Airlines (25 minutes and six seconds).
Consumer group Which? criticised the industry for charging record fares while delivering "unreliable services".
Despite its UK punctuality woes, Wizz Air reported a record 62.0 million passengers in the year ending March 2023, up more than 20 percent from the previous year, alongside a pre-tax profit of £290.4 million.
Aviation consultant John Strickland attributed this success to competitive pricing and extensive route coverage.
A Wizz Air spokesman told The Sun they have since " invested more than £90 million to stabilise operations, reduce the number of delays and provide a better experience for customers."
They continued to claim "Wizz Air’s performance today is among the strongest in the entire industry. "
"We also have the best flight completion rate in the whole of Europe at 99.9 percent."
"Helping our customers reach their destination is our number one priority and we will continue to invest in our service to ensure they get there on time"
A spokesperson from Tui apologised to customers, telling The Sun,
"We are sorry to any customers who have experienced delays to their Tui flights".
"Our aim is for all who travel with us to have on-time flights however, in rare instances, extenuating circumstances mean this is not always the case."
"Our airline team work hard to minimise delays as much as possible whilst ensuring a safe and secure flight experience for our customers and colleagues."
Tui emphasized efforts to minimise delays and ensure safe travel experiences, stating they "never cancel flights" regardless of challenges.
It seems in an industry where time is money, these airlines face the challenge of proving it can deliver both punctuality and profitability as they strive to regain passenger trust.
Meanwhile, chaos unfolded on a Jet2 flight from Glasgow as cops dragged a drunk, topless man off the plane after "attacking the crew and passengers".
Elsewhere, a Melbourne flight attendant warns passengers over which seats to avoid at all costs, revealing her best tips on booking seats.
