THERE are swimming pools, and then there’s the infinity pool at the Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore.

It is the jewel in the crown of the 57-storey hotel, which caters for more than one million guests every year.

In a new programme on BBC2 called Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby, TV presenters Giles Coren and Monica Galetti pay a visit the record-breaking pool.

It is the longest elevated infinity pool in the world and the size of three Olympic swimming pools.

More than 500 jacks have been built under the lobby at ground level to stabilise the building, so that the thousand tons of water in the pool don't tip out onto the streets below.

Guests taking a dip are treated to incredible views of Singapore’s financial district.

In the programme, the presenters also look at the inner workings of the rest of the hotel, which cost £3.5 billion to build.

There are 9,500 staff at the Marina Bay Sands, including an ex-Singapore special forces officer who
runs the team of butlers.

There are also 600 staff in the catering team, who service 60 restaurants ranging from Brazilian, Chinese and French to Japanese.

Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond The Lobby airs on BBC 2 on 27 March at 9pm.
