ONE of the UK's best seaside theme parks has revealed a new ride opening this summer.

Great Yarmouth's Pleasure Beach was named the second best seaside park last year by the UK Theme Park Awards, only beaten by Blackpool's Pleasure Beach Resort.

And it has since confirmed a new ride set to open later this year.

The new ride Leo's Jungle Adventure has been inspired by the park's mascot Leo the Lion.

The ride takes place on a safari bus which appears to move in a circular motion up and down.

More suited to kids, anyone over 1.3m will be able to ride it by themselves.

Anyone between 1m and 1.3m will need to be joined by an adult.

Little else is known about the ride although it it set to open by June.

Last year, the theme park opened three new rides.

This included carousel ride Race-O-Rama, Ghost Ship and Polar Express (replacing the Mulan ride).

The park is currently home to just one of two wooden rollercoasters remaining in the UK, the other at Dreamland in Margate.

Another major ride is the Big Apple Coaster which was introduced in 1998, being taken from Alton Towers.

Pleasure Beach is set to reopen this month, but only at weekends and during school holidays.

It will then reopen every day in both July and August, before dropping to weekends again until November.

Guests can buy wristbands that allow unlimited rides that cost £23 for anyone over the age of seven.

Or there are Fun Cards which include entry and ride credits, starting from £5 for five credits.

Another seaside theme park in the UK has launched new afternoon tickets that are cheaper.

Pleasure Beach Resort in Blackpool's cheapest tickets will be for guests entering from 3:30pm, which start from £34.

Cheaper than the all-day £50 tickets, guests will be able to stay until 10pm in the peak season.

What is Pleasure Beach like?

Dad Matthew Leach recently visited the theme park

“STOP, I want to get off!” I looked around to see who was screaming . . . then realised it was me.

I was on the Pendulum ride at Great Yarmouth’s Pleasure Beach.

Suspended at 100ft, upside down and staring at the concrete floor below, my main thoughts were: What if the safety harness fails?

And if you enjoy high-octane fun, and don’t mind feeling a little queasy, this is the place for you.

But it was not just about white-knuckle rides.

There were also more child-friendly attractions including a ghost train, monorail and classic dodgems.

And Dreamland in Margate has introduced new all-day wristbands this year, which start from £24.99 for all of the rides.

In even bigger news, Paultons Park has revealed plans to open its first ever on-site holiday resort with nearly 100 overnight lodges.
