Take a peek at the world’s first cruise ship to have its own two-storey GO KART track – and it sets sail this month
The £640m Norwegian Joy has been designed specifically for the Chinese market, with hovercraft bumper cars and VR roller coasters

A NEW cruise ship is launching this month that could turn the heads of even the most sea-fearing humans.
The Norwegian Joy is so fancy that it has its own two-storey go kart track, hovercraft bumper cars and exclusive VIP concierge service.
The new £640 million cruise ship has been designed specifically for the Chinese market and took two years to build in Germany.
The 3,850 passenger Norwegian Joy will welcome its first passengers on board later this month, with home ports in Shanghai and Beijing.
The offerings are considerably different on-board to the typical entertainment experiences on European and American cruise ships.
As well as the two-level competitive racetrack, the ship also features laser tag, virtual reality experiences, simulator rides and interactive video walls.
This includes hovercraft bumper cars and three interactive "dark ride simulators", which feature 3D graphics, 360- degree surround sound and multi-sensory special effects.
The ship will also feature a Star Wars battle pods video game, Xbox console stations and virtual optic experiences by Oculus that include designing and then riding a personal roller coaster, as well as two multi-storey water slides.
For the shopaholics, the ship will feature Norwegian Cruise Line's largest upscale shopping district, with everything from exceptional duty-free shops to world-renowned global luxury brands.
There will also be an exclusive ship-within-a-ship VIP area called The Haven for “First Class” passengers that can only be accessed by a special personalised key card.
The Haven will feature an all-new Observation Deck that features 180 degree views, and a Concierge level, with an all-new accommodations category that provide a VIP experience with balcony staterooms.
The Concierge guests receive an extra level of personal service from the services of a dedicated concierge, plus a Concierge lounge with a private bar and refreshments available throughout the day.
Other accommodation offerings will include staterooms designed specifically for families and a multitude of connecting staterooms, for extended families travelling together, as well as a wide array of mini-suite, balcony, ocean view and interior staterooms, many with virtual balconies.
