A French company is offering FREE lakeside cabins in Bordeaux to holidaymakers – but there’s a catch
You could stay in a beautiful cabin in the French wine-growing region for nothing (If you're prepared to sacrifice a few luxuries)

SUMMER holidays in France are great - you usually get fantastic weather, food and - of course - a good bottle of wine for a fraction of the UK price.
And now there’s an even better reason to visit - accommodation that won’t cost you a penny... as long as you're smart about it.
is a collection of funky wooden cabins scattered around the outskirts of Bordeaux - the city in the famous wine-growing region.
The quirky cabin designs range from a cloud to a family of owls, and each of them sleeps up to six people.
And they are ideal for families looking for a bargain break - because they are completely FREE to stay in.
But there is a catch - facilities are extremely basic, with no water, electricity or heating.
Guests have to bring their own bedding and supplies, and either use dry toilets or find a public loo.
You also have to be quick to get in too - booking only opens for one day a month when customers can choose days for the next month - and the cabins are snapped up in minutes.
If you are lucky enough to bag one, you can only stay for one night, from 2pm until noon the following day.
But it’s worth the hassle, as many of the shelters are built beside picturesque lakes and rivers, or in the grounds of a country estate.
The architect-designed cabins are also close to the Boucle Vert, a 160km walking loop around the city.
Walkers can apply to stay for consecutive nights in different shelters along the route.
There are currently ten shelters - which are open from March 1 until November 30 - with one extra cabin planned for 2018.
The next booking slot opens on September 8 for anyone who wants to schedule a stay in October.
