The company has pumped $350million (£247million) into the new business class sections on its flights, as well as giving economy a fresh new look.

Its Boeing 787-10 jets are also equipped with “smoother air technology” that detects turbulence and adjusts its wings to combat it.

Business class passengers will be overcome with choice as they are presented with 1,000 different TV shows and films during their journeys.

So no more sighing as you realise there are only three decent films to watch on both legs of the journey.

All business class seats will also have access to an aisle as the planes have a 1-2-1 seat configuration.

The airline plans to use the revamped 337-seat plane as the backbone of its medium-haul fleet on flights of up to eight hours.

Services are to be introduced on flights to Osaka and Perth in May.

Singapore Airlines chose to improve these features after it was acknowledged flights to Australia, Japan and South Korea previously lacked these new levels of comfort.

The new business class seats will help the airline remain competitive against rivals such as Japan Airlines and  Qantas.

The fuel-efficient jet will also help Singapore Airlines lower costs.

The carrier last year launched a three-year transformation programme designed to help it compete more effectively against Chinese and Middle Eastern rivals and low-cost carriers.

The airline was previously featured on Channel 4 show The World’s Most Luxurious Airline.
