We reveal where in the world you can strip off – so you can avoid Katie Price’s topless Thai blunder

KATIE Price built a career on her chest, but her famous assets have landed her in hot water.
The former glamour model has outraged locals by going topless on a beach in Thailand.
She could face a fine for flouting rules that ban boobs from being displayed.
To avoid making the same mistake, check out DORA ALLDAY’s guide on where in the world you can strip off.
Do double-check local laws before you arrive at your, ahem, breastination.
Europe
Belgium
It’s Belgium, not bulge-um so relax and whip your top off on any beach you like, but keep your pants on.
Croatia
With no laws on public nudity, and no punishments, Croatia has developed a strong naturist culture.
So Split from the clothed tourists and get involved at one of the country’s naked campsites or hotels.
Germany
Munich is the German naked capital. It has six designated “Urban Naked Zones” allowing the public to stroll freely in the buff.
The nation’s general attitude to public nudity is relaxed, as long as there is no sexual element.
Though naked sport seems to be the limit, with nude jogging and cycling considered a public nuisance by courts.
Strip off and join the 600,000 Germans registered in more than 300 private nudist clubs.
Iceland
You can get naked in Reykjavik and beyond, as long as you don’t offend anyone.
But it might be sensible to wrap up warm in those temperatures.
Italy
For such a sexy country, the Italians are rather prudish with nude sunbathing restricted to designated beaches.
But you’re generally safe to whip your bikini top off on the beach – just make sure you’re not the only one.
Netherlands
The Netherlands has specific areas deemed suitable for “nude recreation” – even if you do need Dutch courage to undress.
Use common sense for places that haven’t been given official status, and definitely don’t unrobe by a school or road.
Spain
Considered a fundamental right of an individual, nudity is legal on public land. However, use caution as it doesn’t mean locals would be happy with holidaymakers walking down the street stark naked.
And in Barcelona, make sure you cover up while wandering around the city as bikinis and male bare chests are unacceptable.
Sweden
For Scandis, naked sunbathing is encouraged to maintain their famously golden tans – as long as you’re not directing your nudity at a stranger.
Having sex by a window or making eye contact with your kit off is not a good idea, but otherwise you should be good to show.
Switzerland
Naked hiking is a popular pastime in this peaceful country, where nudity in public is generally legal.
Just make sure you cover up in the Canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden though, as the conservative region has recently voted to prohibit the phenomenon and fine offenders.
UK
The warm weather has seen a stark increase in nude sunbathers, and stripping off in public only becomes an offence if you intend to upset, shock or incite fear.
Despite our good intentions, it is possible that the mere sight of us in the buff could raise the alarm.
The Crown Prosecution Service explained: “A balance needs to be struck between the naturist’s right to freedom and the right of the wider public to be protected from harassment, alarm and distress.”
If you want to bare all, you can gather at one of the UK’s 38 beaches with allocated areas for naturists, such as Birling Gap near Eastbourne, Portsmouth’s Eastney Beach or Norfolk’s Holkam Bay.
USA & Canada
USA
It can be difficult to work out exactly what is or isn’t allowed in the States. The nature of a potential offence depends on what is showing, if there’s any sexual suggestion, if you’re annoying people and in some cases if a member of the opposite sex is present.
But if you have a naked ambition, head to Nudes-A-Poppin’, an annual Indiana pageant where nudists compete in erotic dance.
Or try Haulover Beach, Miami - it’s known as the best nudist beach in the States.
Canada
Strictly speaking, Canada forbids nudity “without a lawful excuse”.
Ontario resident Gwen Jacob was charged in 1991 with committing an indecent act after she walked down the street topless.
But she was acquitted after judges ruled toplessness is not itself sexual or indecent. The case won the right of women in Ontario to expose their breasts in public.
You can subathe nude on designated beaches. So, yes, there you Cana-dare to bare.

Rest of the world
Barbados
It’s definitely Bra-bados as the Caribbean island has no nude beaches and sunbathing starkers is illegal.
Brazil
Brazil, with its Miss Bumbum contest, is surprisingly NOT a fan of topless sunbathing.
Despite “free the nipple” protests, nudity outside designated areas is illegal – though you will find many women in skimpy thong bikinis leaving little to the imagination.
The country does have around 11 nudist beaches, though, so attitudes are changing.
China
Until 2014, you could get your bits out at Dadonghai Beach in Sanya on Hainan Island.
The unofficial naturist site had been the country’s only nudist offering for ten years before complaints triggered a ban.
Generally nudity is forbidden in China and you risk arrest, but you can find topless expats on South Bay Beach in Hong Kong.
There are also reports of nudist beaches on Lantau Island in Hong Kong and Tai Long Wan.
Dubai
This UAE state has strict rules regarding clothing, which insists people cover their shoulders and knees in public places.
One man who fell foul of the state’s Islamic laws is Brit Richard Stabler, who ran through a building in just his underwear in 2014, while drunk.
He served seven months in jail before being deported.
If you’re on the beach or by the pool, a swimsuit or bikini is acceptable but topless sunbathing is forbidden.
Fiji
Public nudity is classed as indecent exposure, despite that there are some resorts that will turn a blind eye to topless and nude sunbathing.
French Polynesia
Nude sunbathing is frowned upon though many holidaymakers claim they have stripped off on remote beaches where they are unlikely to get caught.
India
Only Naga Sadhu Hindus – or naked saints – can get away with baring all in India, even in the depths of winter.
For everyone else, sunbathing topless is also against the law.
Kyrgyzstan
If you stumble across the village of Kaji-Say in this Central Asian country, try out the beach’s nude section. Otherwise, play it safe and cover up.
New Zealand
They have a zeal for nudity here, with no laws preventing it as long as you are not trying to be obscene or cause offence.
But stick to remote beaches, rather than those packed with families.
Qatar
Nudity? This state can’t bare it. Qatari law prohibits revealing or indecent clothes, so shoulders and knees must be covered and it shouldn’t be tight or transparent.
Which won’t be good news for football fans planning to attend the 2022 World Cup, where temperatures in the host country could reach 50C.
Having to wear anything other than a bikini sounds indecent to us.
Singapore
You will definitely need your cossie in this South East Asian nation, where walking around your house with open curtains can land you a hefty fine, three-months imprisonment – or both.
South Africa
Stripping off in public is classed as indecent exposure.
An application by the South African Nudist Association to get government approval for what would have been the country’s second nudist beach was overturned last year after complaints from local groups.
South Korea
Jangheung county was home to the country’s first “nude forest bath” where people can walk through the trees naked.
There are also nudist beaches in the Jeju province.
We suspect they are not so relaxed north of the the border.
Thailand
A world away from the ping-pong shows of Bangkok, topless or nude bathing is frowned upon.
Tut tut, Katie.
