British couple ‘stuck in hell hole’ Greek holiday resort with ‘overflowing rubbish’
Former soldier Mick Clark and his wife Jayney compared the Corfu resort of Agios Georgios to his time serving in Bosnia during the war

A BRITISH couple say their resort in Greece is a “hell hole” and is more like a war zone than a holiday destination.
Former soldier Mick Clark and his wife Jayney claim they are stuck in the village of Agios Georgios, Corfu, which they claim is littered with rubbish, has no running water and is making them ill.
Mick compared the resort to his time serving in Bosnia during the war there.
Jayney, 50, told : "Mick said this place resembles war torn Bosnia in 1994 when he served in the Bosnian conflict.”
She added that she suffers from a rare blood disorder and the stress has led to her feeling ill.
Jayney said: "I had to give up my job as a PA last year because of my illness and so we've not got as much money as we used to have.
"When we saw this Facebook post about a £499 all inclusive holiday flying from Exeter our first thought was 'It's too good to be true' so we went into [a travel agency], and asked 'What's the catch - why is it so cheap?"
She says they were told that it was the resort’s first week of the summer season and were trying to attract people to go.
The couple who live near Exeter, Devon, say they have had no running water for three days in the village and other holidaymakers are paying £200 each to fly home early.
We are stuck in this hell hole and we can't get home. It’s been 26 hours since we first started asking TUI for help

She said: “When you leave the hotel it's not a resort - it's basically closed. All the locals are outside painting their shops and they say the holiday season doesn't start for another two weeks."
The Clark’s say the bins are overflowing, seaweed is rotting in the sea, there is dog excrement on the beach and to get to the sea they have to cross a small bridge which is just an old wooden pallet.
Jayney added: “We are stuck in this hell hole and we can't get home. It’s been 26 hours since we first started asking TUI for help.
"Other guests are paying £200 each to get a flight home today. That’s how bad this place is. Two girls from Cheshire arrived at the same time as us and they were so upset they paid for their own flights home.
"What makes it worse is that the 24/7 helpline to a UK number actually puts you through to Portugal and India. No one can help. I want to go home. It's disgusting."

She added the local holiday rep kept hiding from them and just offering "a million apologies".
A Tui spokesperson said: "We’re sorry to hear about Mr and Mrs Clark’s experience in Corfu.
"We are currently investigating their concerns and will be in contact with them very soon to resolve the matter."
