THE fastest rollercoasters in the world have broken speed records of up to 149mph.

Unsurprisingly, the US has the most rollercoasters in the world that boast the top speeds.

In the top seven fastest rides, the US features three times with the UAE, Spain, Japan and Australia also making the top list.

The UK barely reaches some of the top speed rollercoasters.

Stealth in Thorpe Park is the fastest in the UK - although it tops 80mph compared to over 100mph on some of its speedier competitors.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is home to the fastest steel rollercoaster in the world - Formula Rossa.

The ride hits 149mph in just five seconds using a hydraulic launch system, with throughout the ride.

It is so fast that passengers have to wear goggles to avoid being hit in the face by bugs and insects.

Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure can reach speeds of .

It was the fastest in the world until Formula Rossa opened in 2010, although it's still the tallest in the world.

It is also only one of two stratacoasters in the world - a ride that has drops of at least 400 feet.

Also in the US is Top Thrill Dragster, found at Cedar Point.

The , and it is the only other stratacoaster in the word.

It only recently re-opened after closing for weeks due to a faulty part.

The only fast rollercoaster to make the list in Europe is Red Force at Ferrari Land in Spain, which opened in 2017.

As the , measuring 112mph, it is tied with Dodonpa in Japan.

A recent viral video showed a young girl laughing after getting hit in the face by a flying bird during the ride.

The same speed as Red Force, Do-Dodonpa at Fuji-Q Highland in Japan also reaches up to 112mph.

Once the fastest rollercoaster in the world, it has reached 120mph during tests - although engineers capped the speed after it wasn't reliable enough for passengers.

While it is no longer the fastest in the world (losing the title in 2003) it still has , of zero to 107mph in just 1.6 seconds.

At Six Flags Magic Mountain is the Superman: Escape from Krypton ride, which .

Rebranded from Superman: The Escape in 2010, it was the fastest rollercoaster in the world until Do-Donpa opened in 2001.

Riders travel backwards up 415 feet during the ride, before coming back down to the platform station.

The at Dreamworld has the same top speed as the Superman: Escape from Krypton ride.

Riders also get fired backwards at 100mph through a flashing tunnel before being propelled up a vertical track.

It was changed from the original Tower of Terror in 2010 after 13 years.

Six Flags recently announced they were building the fastest rollercoaster in the world at their new theme park in Saudi Arabia.

Called Falcon's Flight, it would hit speeds up to 155mph.

The fastest dive coaster in the world is in Canada, with the Yukon Striker hitting speeds up to 80mph.
