Sharon Marshall broke the news on ITV breakfast show This Morning.
Marshall said: "The great news is that Tameka is going to be back filming soon
"I don't think she's been on the set since last year, and I've really missed the sisterly relationship between Denise and Kim."
The fan favourite will return to the show later in 2020, where she'll be reunited with on-screen sister Denise Fox, played by Diane Parish.
When did Kim Fox exit the show?
Tameka has played Kim since 2009, with the character's exit storyline seeing her offered a new job in Scotland.
Despite still being on a break, Empson featured as Kim for a special webcam appearance in December 2019, talking to her family at Christmas dinner.
What is Kim Fox's return storyline?
Kim's return storyline has been kept under wraps, but fans speculate it has something to do with her husband Vincent Hubbard (Richard Blackwood).
Previously, fans have accused BBC bosses of "forgetting about" him after he was kidnapped in 2018.
Vincent was last seen with a gun pointed to his head by fake cop DI Alsworth back in April, 2018.

Fans were quick to point out that we never saw him actually die, so he could very much be alive.
Could Kim Fox's return be something to do with her missing husband?
Ahead of Tameka's return to set, she and Diane are set to appear on EastEnders spin-off show Secrets From The Square.
