CORONATION Street is set to be rocked by disaster as a giant sinkhole opens up on the cobbles.
The Platt family will be horrified when they wake up one morning to find their garden gone after a sinkhole has opened up and swallowed it.
With David and Shona's marriage on the rocks thanks to her memory loss, he's stuck between a rock and a hard place.
And it's not just the Platts who are affected as other residents find themselves drawn into the mire.
A source told The Sun Online: "It's going to cause huge issues for the already hard-up residents on the cobbles - no-one wants a sinkhole in their garden, especially with the damage they can do."
Meanwhile, evil Geoff Metcalfe turns his sights onto Alya Nazir.
The abuser - who is played by actor Ian Bartholomew in the ITV soap - is set to go full force in attacking the thorn in his side on the cobbles.
With her grandmother Yasmeen out of harm's way as Geoff is unable to contact her, he decides to target his manipulations on Alya. But will she be able to stand up to him?
Elsewhere, three residents find themselves facing ghosts from the past.
Rovers landlord Johnny Connor, factory boss Nick Tylsley and local vicar Billy Mayhew have all had their fair share of problems - and they are about to find out the hard way that you can never erase your past.
