Dr. HELL?
LUCIFER’S Tom Ellis has backtracked on his dream to play Doctor Who after the “luxury” of his Netflix stardom.
The devilishly good actor had previously harboured some desires to take over the mantle as the Time Lord but now considers Lucifer his very own Doctor Who.

During a recent interview, the 41-year-old actor responded to the suggestion that he would make a great Doctor in the cult BBC series.
Ellis said: “Back in the day, I would have loved to have had an opportunity to play Doctor Who.
“I just never think that ever would have happened. Partly because I’d have done this show, and I just don’t think people thought of me like that.”
The Lucifer star told : “Weirdly, the part of Lucifer, in my own head I’m like, ‘This is my Doctor Who.’ That’s what it felt like. It’s the character traits, isn’t it? Having the luxury to play such a fulfilling character.”

The dad-of-two, who recently made his triumphant return to the Netflix show in season 5A, has been portraying the role of Lucifer since it began on Fox back in 2016.
The series was adapted from the DC Comics character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg, which was taken from the comic book series The Sandman.
Gaiman has previously written two episodes of Doctor Who, so it wouldn’t have been a huge jump to think Ellis had a way into the cult BBC series.
He also previously appeared in a 2007 episode of Doctor Who called Last of the Time Lords, playing a character called Thomas Milligan.

Lucifer season 5A is available to stream on Netflix now and fans are hoping for the second half of the series in early 2021.
Apart from reprising his role as the Lord of Hell, Ellis is also portraying Lucifer’s twin brother Michael, who wants to wreak havoc on his carefully cultivated relationships.
