Netflix drops first trailer for coronavirus quarantine drama Social Distance from creator of Orange Is the New Black

NETFLIX has dropped their trailer for the new coronavirus quarantine drama Social Distance from the creator of Orange Is the New Black.

Producers Jenji Kohan and Hilary Weisman Graham have created the new series to reflect what life was like during the first few months of the current coronavirus pandemic.

The anthropology series follows the journey of eight different people through their webcam or camera phone.

It "captures the unique emotional experience of being forced apart by circumstance and having no choice but to communicate remotely and rely on technology."

It touches upon how quarantine affected people in different ways and how individuals were able to communicate with their family members, friends and partners by virtual means.

There are a range of familiar faces in the cast, including Orange Is The Next Black star Dannielle Brooks and Luke Cage's Mike Colter.

Plans of Hilary and Jenji joining forces once again to work on a show together were first reported back by  back in April.

They said of the series at the time: "Our job as storytellers is to reflect reality, and in this new, bizarre, bewildering reality we are all experiencing, we feel passionate about finding connection as we all remain at a distance.

"We’ve been inspired to create an anthology series that tells stories about the current moment we are living through — the unique, personal, deeply human stories that illustrate how we are living apart, together.

"Through a broad spectrum of tales and moments, some seismic and some mundane, we hope to capture a moment in time.

"And we hope that Social Distance will help people feel closer to one another."

The whole series was created virtually, so that cast and crew maintained the required social distancing and stayed safe.

The writers all worked remotely while Weisman ran production from her living room.

Meanwhile the cast acted and films themselves in the comfort of their own home.

Social Distance premieres globally on Netflix October 15.
