Power Book 2 creator explains why Monet has never heard of James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick after major fan confusion
POWER Book creator Courtney Kemp has explained why Monet has never heard of James 'Ghost' St Patrick.
Fans were confused as to how the drug Queenpin did not know the main character of the original series, but the showrunner has cleared things up.
Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) has recently teamed up with Monet Tejada (Mary J. Blige), to sell drugs to help pay for lawyer Davis Maclean (Method Man), to save his imprisoned mother Tasha (Naturi Naughton), from the death penalty.
This is because sneaky ex-FBI attorney Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson) decided to try and pin a drug Queenpin charge on her as he can no longer go after the deceased Ghost.
Courtney Kemp has addressed this possible plot hole during a recent Instagram Live chat via Cheat Sheet.
She said: “People have been asking this question and I think it’s kind of interesting.”
The award-winning writer continued: “You guys were in the show, so you saw that James St. Patrick and Ghost were the same person.
“But if you only know Ghost by reputation, then you only know the name ‘Ghost.’
“Until the two ideas Ghost and St. Patrick are connected, for Monet and Lorenzo, James St. Patrick is just the guy who was running for lieutenant governor.”
She added: “They don’t know what you guys know and they don’t know what the prosecutors know.”

Power Book 2 fans have also slammed the ‘gratuitous’ romps as a new sex addict character rekindles her ‘toxic’ relationship with her ex.
One of Tariq's professors Caridad ‘Carrie’ Milgram (Melanie Liburd), has a complex relationship with her ex-fiancé Jabari Reynolds (Justin Marcel McManus).
The couple split after their relationship turned toxic but were brought back together years later when they both got teaching jobs at the same university and the pair have engaged in a steamy-yet-manipulative sex scenes.
Some viewers thiught it was too much as one fan wrote on Reddit: "What is the end goal with the two professors? Really feeling like they are wasting screen time".
While another added: "Horrible writing and acting as usual from Power. It’s pretty much a series staple at this point. "Along with over-gratuitous sex scenes. Hilarious."
