Game of Thrones author teases House of the Dragon spin off release date – and it’s sooner than you think

GAME of Thrones author George RR Martin has teased the House of the Dragon spin-off release date - and it's sooner than you think.
Fans of the American fantasy drama series were left over the moon when it was revealed that they were working on a prequel based on the 2018 book Fire & Blood when it ended in 2019.
Game of Thrones, created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, graced our screens for eight years from 2011 for eight amazing seasons.
Shortly after it ended, it was announced that a 10-episode spin-off for HBO would soon follow.
GoT lovers will know that House of the Dragon is due to premiere in 2022, and now it's been teased that it will be on our screens quicker than we thought.
Speaking to television station WTTW Chicago at an awards ceremony, George RR Martin revealed: "It’ll probably be on next spring, I guess.
"But then I’m developing other shows for them."
The exciting news comes after Game of Thrones posted the first official pictures of the spin-off series last month.
The prequel series, which is set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, started filming in Cornwall in April.
The never-before-seen pictures show an intense conversation between The Crown's Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, and Truth Seekers star Emma D'Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

House of the Dragon will follow on from when House Targaryen begins to fall apart and the Dance of the Dragons civil war begins.
