VIGIL fans all have the same thought as ANOTHER submarine crew member was brutally killed off.

The BBC One show was left on an epic cliffhanger after DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) found crucial evidence to help her identify the person behind Craig Burke's murder.

The detective chief inspector found out that chef Jackie Hamilton's son was getting released early from his 10-year prison sentence in Indonesia.

She thought things didn't add up so went to search her room and found some marks on her pillow case similar to something she saw Burke (Martin Compston) ingest before he died.

Silva went to Newsome with the new finding and said that she thought it was connected to her son.

The Captain of HMS Vigil asked for a full name broadcast and when the announcement was said out loud, coxswain Elliot Glover (Shaun Evans) looked very shifty and changed the direction that he was going in.

Silva waited five minutes before going to find Hamilton herself and was told by a crew member that the coxswain had gone to look for her.

Moments later the chef (Anita Vettesse) was found dead on the floor by the copper in the food cupboard.

The episode left viewers wondering what will happen next after a masked man came charging towards Silva as she found Hamilton on the floor.

Many fans are convinced that Glover is behind the murder of Burke.

One wrote on Twitter: "Right so I reckon the Coxswain is the Russian asset and made a deal with the Chef to kill Burke in order for Indonesia to release her son."

A second said: "maybe the Coxswain is a Russian, would explain his wandering accent!"

A third added: "always knew the coxswain was a w****r."

A fourth chimed in: "Yikes I did think the Elliot guy (coxswain) started to seem proper dodgy."

Another questioned: "So Glover is the killer?"

Others have come up with the theory that Coxswain is the man behind the gask man and is going to use that to say that he saved Silva's life.

Another added: "It's the coxswain in the mask."

A sixth tweeted: "The Coxswain has found her poisoned and is wearing a gas mask for his own protection and is now getting Amy out of danger. That is my theory, it is mine, and belongs to me and I own it, and what it is too."

Another viewer wrote: "Is Coxswain Glover going to kill DCI Silva or was he trying to save her by pushing her out of the way with his gas mask on. Why did he go looking for Jackie? He seemed very concerned when she was being ordered to go to the control room onboard #Vigil Can't wait til next week."

Things have certainly turned up a notch in the drama after some viewers claimed they were left "underwhelmed" by last week's episode.

DCI Silva discovered that Craig Burke didn't die of a head injury - but was in fact poisoned.

Meanwhile, DS Kirsten Longacre continued her investigations on land and turned up plenty of new leads.

However, not everyone impressed with the latest episode, with some fans dozing off.

One wrote: "Rapidly losing the will to watch this...falling asleep. #Vigil"

Another shared: "I'm going to have to watch this again, it's so fast moving I can't keep up. #Vigil"

"Tonight's episode of #Vigil is really underwhelming...it feels like Line of Duty on a submarine," a third posted.
