Despite the songstress from Blackburn having millionaire status and travelling the globe, she keeps her personal life under wraps.

Susan has been unlucky in her love life - and recently revealed she planned to stay unmarried for life as it she had left it "too long".

The star has only ever had who was known to the public after she revealed they had gone out on dates.

She started the romantic relationship aged 53 - shortly after her career debut - with an American doctor who she met in a hotel.

Despite her connection with the man, the relationship failed to develop into anything long term between them.

Opening up on the relationship, she told Lady Magazine she believed it ended because she felt marriage wasn't right for her.

"I did have a gentleman friend, a doctor. We went for lunch but I didn't tell anyone," she explained.

"But if I had a man friend it would be purely platonic - I've been on my own too long now to get married.

"I don’t want to say any more about who he is right now as that would be unfair. We are around the same age and he was a nice guy."

Despite not settling into a relationship, the star has revealed how she has regrets about not having any children.

Susan told The Sun: "When things quieten down a bit I would like to get into fostering," she told the publication.

"I love kids. I’ve never had any of my own, that’s my biggest regret, but I love kids. They’re good fun to be with."
