Great British Bake Off bosses create new Channel 4 show where holiday parks compete to be crowned best in UK

WE are used to chortling over the dreaded “soggy bottom” of many a Great British Bake Off contestant’s bungled cake.
But the TV-gold term could soon be be employed to describe waterlogged tents and mouldy camping mattresses, as the makers of Channel 4’s Bake Off are working on a spin-off celebrating the country’s best holiday park breaks.
Programme makers Love Productions are challenging trippers to tell TV viewers why their favourite getaway is the one to beat all others — for whatever reason.
They want to speak to people who have colourful tales to tell about visiting the following holiday hotspots — Robin Hood Park near Rhyl, Denbighs; Skirlington Leisure Park near Skipsea, North Yorks; Skegness’s Coastfields; and Clarach Bay Holiday Village just outside Aberystwyth.
They say: “We are interested in what people are hoping for from their holiday, whether that’s reconnecting with loved ones, enjoying the local sights, simply getting away from it all — or any special reasons why you might be visiting.”

A telly source said: “Love Productions have already proven that the Bake Off format works in many other ways — just look at The Great British Sewing Bee and The Great Pottery Throw Down.
“So this latest spin-off isn’t exactly unexplored territory for the team.
“But one thing all three existing shows don’t have to contend with is the British weather.”
So soggy bottoms all round then, eh?

Koby has a cross to bear
A SECOND series of race relations drama Noughts + Crosses finally airs tomorrow.
Director Koby Adom revealed that to hasten filming in South Africa in the face of lockdown, he even stepped up for some acting duties.
He said: “I took a part to push things along. I spoke to the producer and said, ‘Look, we have to do this’. It was not like a plan. The show had pressures in lockdown. So whatever I could do, I was there.”
The new series sees pregnant Sephy (Masali Baduza), of black ruling class the Crosses, on the run with boyfriend Callum (Jack Rowan) from white underclass the Noughts.
Episode one is on BBC1 tomorrow at 10.40pm, then the whole series is on iPlayer.
SAM: MY VISION TO HAVE FUN
IT’S lucky for Graham Norton that this year’s UK Eurovision hopeful Sam Ryder can take a joke.
Contest bosses have blamed our dismal recent run on mocking commentary from the BBC presenter and his predecessor Terry Wogan.
Swedish producer Christer Bjorkman said: “Graham Norton has this flippant tone. It doesn’t work. It’s a lot easier to joke than to win.
“Because of what Terry Wogan did, the UK don’t put in their best efforts.”
But Space Man singer Sam said: “I like the way Graham Norton presents Eurovision, and Terry before him.

“We can’t treat Eurovision like an Olympic sport. If we go too far the other way, we take out all the fun of music.”
Space Man has soared to fourth favourite and Sam wants viewers to “have a blast and be positive” about his chances in Turin on May 14.
