Love Island hit by over 5,000 Ofcom complaints in just FIVE days as furious fans slam ‘bullying’

LOVE Island has been hit with more than 5,000 Ofcom complaints over just five days.
The five days have seen some Snog, Marry, Pie cause a huge stir amongst fans, getting a huge number of complaints after it aired.
Over 1,500 viewers contacted the broadcasting regulator after the episode, with most of the upset sparked by the boys' misogynistic behaviour towards the girls in the aftermath of the game.
During the controversial episode, Billy Brown set the tone for the shocking behaviour when he completely bypassed Danica Taylor with whom he is partnered up with.
Things got really heated when Dami Hope chose to kiss his Casa Amor ex Summer to the shock of Indiyah Polack.
But it was the treatment of Tasha which left viewers feeling really upset and angry.
Tasha was pied three times in total - by Davide Sanclimenti, Dami and Luca - with each giving their reasons for doing so.
As well as Snog, Marry, Pie, the aftermath of a bullying row also caused a huge 3,617 Ofcom complaints, with over 2,000 coming in on the day it aired.
Ofcom confirmed the complaints related to alleged misogynistic behaviour by some of the male contestants.
A further 427 complaints were made about AfterSun as Laura Whitmore was accused of s***-shaming Ekin-su, as well as about the treatment of Jacques.
On July 12 there were 129 complaints related to Adam entering the villa, and Jacques’ wellbeing in the lead up to and during his departure from the villa.
A few days later 159 fans expressed concern about footage of Ekin-Su and George during Casa Amor.
And on July 18, 413 wrote in about alleged bullying and misogynistic behaviour from some of the male contestants during a game of dares, which saw Tasha once again targeted.
Love Island is no stranger to complaints from viewers, with the 2021 series seeing a huge 24,763 Ofcom complaints from fans infuriated by Faye's "toxic" meltdown.
The incident, which saw Faye swear and scream in partner Teddy's face, is now the most complained about moment in the show's history.
An Ofcom spokesperson said at the time: “We’ve received a high volume of complaints about last week’s Love Island, which is consistent with a trend of growing complaints about high-profile TV shows.
"We are carefully assessing the complaints we’ve received, before deciding whether or not to investigate.”
