The HBO series has delivered a number of shocking scenes already and in the second instalment, viewers were horrified by tiny carnivorous crabs.

The crustaceans were seen ripping the meat from their live victims after being shipwrecked, while pirates hauled away their loot.

The disturbing scenes left some House of the Dragon fans watching at home feeling sick, with one writing on Twitter: "There’s a nasty dose of crabs and then there’s #HouseoftheDragon #crabfeeder."

Another added: "This beach shot is horrific yoh 😭😭😭these crabs are eating these people alive. I had almost forgotten how graphic the shots can get #HOTD."

A third tweeted: "That scene at the beginning with the crabs won't leave my mind."

Meanwhile a fourth shared: "That intro scene in this new episode is crazy 😭, the crabs were FEASTING."

The carnivorous crabs were acting on behalf of Crabfeeder who carries out unspeakable acts of cruelty, with viewers set to see more of it as the series progresses.

Elsewhere, viewers were left "grossed out" by a child bride storyline.

Following the death of his wife, Queen Aemma, in episode one, King Viserys Targaryen was advised to remarry and he wanted to pick Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey).

However, the King was urged to consider tying the knot with Laena, the 12-year-old daughter of Lord Corlys.

As if her young age wasn't inappropriate enough, she also happened to be his niece.

Thankfully, the King ended up deciding to focus his intentions on Alicent.

House of the Dragon airs Mondays at 9pm on Sky Atlantic and is available on NOW.
