Doc Martin fans fear GP will DIE as Martin Clunes teases ‘very dramatic conclusion’

MARTIN CLUNES teased the final series of ITV’s Doc Martin will come to a "dramatic conclusion" on Good Morning Britain.
The ITV drama is coming to an end after 18 years, with the final series airing on ITV later this month.
Martin Clunes joined Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway to talk about bidding an emotional farewell to his classic TV character Doc Martin after 18 years in the role of the grumpy GP.
Viewers were treated to a teaser clip from the upcoming series during the interview on GMB.
In the clip Martin was seen dealing with a patient who was stubborn and adamant that she had booked an appointment with the doctor for her son.
Martin is left confused when Louisa Glasson shows up confirming the appointment is with her.
During his GMB interview, Martin opened up about saying good-bye to the iconic character.
Kate asked Martin why the show was ending.
“I’m too old,” he told Kate. “We’ve done it now. It’s been great, a dreamy amount of success, and people love it all around the world, but it’s just time to complete it.”
When Ben asked the actor what he’s going to miss most about the series, he responded: “I’m going to miss hanging around.
“I’ve stood outside that surgery, there’s a lot of waiting around when you’re filming and I’ve been gazing out to sea.
“I don’t think I’ve stood in any place, in any garden I’ve owned for that long.”
Kate added: “You will miss the view.”
Martin continued: “I’ll miss the view. I’ll miss the people. The cast”
Chatting about the teaser clip, Martin said: “I’m not a doctor at the beginning as you saw, and Louisa's taken over my practice. but I don't think it's a spoiler to say that I will see patients again later in the series.
"It really builds to a terribly dramatic conclusion, really dramatic.”
An excited Kate, said: “gosh”.
Martin continued: “Yes, really dramatic.”
Kate exclaimed: “Oh no!”
Hinting that one of the characters in the series may die.
Then the series finishes and then a few weeks later we have our Christmas episode, which is an addendum," he added.
Ben interrupted: “And you filmed the Christmas episode back in February?”
Martin replied: Yes, we did it when there were no leaves on the trees.”
The teaser and GMB interview comes after Martin, confessed that ITV initially didn't want the show to end.
“We’re going to close the circle and leave it,” he said. “It’s nice that it’s us making that decision, not ITV saying you’re history.
"They’d love us to keep going, but it feels right to stop. Otherwise, it would just become a soap opera, which we never wanted," he shared with Radio Times.
Martin also opened up about the challenges his wife, Philippa Braithwaite faced during the series, on This Morning.
Saying she found the series: "tough".
"It's just a good time to end,” he admitted. “Poor Philippa, she's worked on every single script, 84 of them and none of them are easy because you've got a main protagonist who doesn't like anybody and nobody likes him and go from there.
"It hasn't been easy, it's been tough. We don't want to repeat ourselves.”
Doc Martin returns to ITV on Wednesday at 9pm. Good Morning Britain airs on ITV on weekdays at 6am.
