Michael Owen insists he always knew Gemma would do well on Love Island but rules out doing a show with her

MICHAEL Owen has spoken out on his initial reaction when daughter Gemma told him she was going on Love Island.
Gemma, 19, came runner-up in this year's series alongside boyfriend Luca Bish.
But last night it was dad Michael, 42, she took as her date to the National Television Awards - and he opened up about the possibility of them doing a show together.
Speaking to The Sun, retired footballer Michael insisted he always knew his daughter would do well.
He said: "From the outset it is not what you expect, your daughter saying she is going on the show.
"But I never had any doubts. I had 19 years bringing her up the right way so I had no doubt she would do us proud and I think she did that."

Shortly after leaving the villa with Gemma, Luca, 23, was introduced to her whole family - including Michael - on holiday in Portugal.
And Michael confessed he and wife Louise Bonsall love nothing more than jetting off with the kids.
He added: "We always like going on holiday together. When I had my career when I was 25 I still always wanted to go on holiday with my family.
"We are a close knit family. Gemma never declines a free holiday to Dubai."

But when asked if he'd be open to doing a show with his daughter, Michael replied: "I don't know about that!"
He might not be sold on the idea of the father/daughter reality show but Michael did team up with Gemma on a hilarious advert for Amazon Prime recently.
In the clip Gemma takes a cheeky swipe at her dad about who is more famous.
