Dancing On Ice’s Siva Kaneswaran passes out in horror accident after cracking his head on the rink

DANCING On Ice’s Siva Kaneswaran passed out in a horror accident after cracking his head on the rink during training.

The singer, 34, best known for being part of band The Wanted, is one of the famous faces taking part in this year's series of the ITV competition.

Over the past few months he's been busy practising for his debut on the show later this weekend.

But things took a drastic turn when he seriously hurt himself on the ice.

Speaking to The Sun, Siva said: "Friday I just passed out.

"I had a serious fall and I hit the back of my head so I’ve been diagnosed with a mild concussion as of today (Wednesday 11th Jan).

"So it’s been difficult for me to get back on the ice and it can really shake your confidence especially when you’ve just cracked your head on the ice."

However the star hasn't let this dampen his spirits ahead of the launch tomorrow night.

He continued: "But I expected this so I’m trying to stay focused and determined and knowing this is part of the journey.

"Luckily we have a medic next to the rink and so we had my blood pressure and blood taken and they checked my eyes, so it’s there, I’m still here, I’m OK, but pretty shook up.

"The first thing (Siva's dance partner) Klabera said was ‘are you okay?’ in her American accent and I was like ‘noooo I’m really not’.

"I passed out for two seconds, I don’t remember it!

"But it’s part of it, part of this is falling and getting back up and braving it."

Back in October Siva admitted his late bandmate Tom Parker was his "reason for doing the show."

He told how his fellow Glad You Came bandmate Tom, who died in March after a battle with brain cancer, was one of his inspirations for signing up.

GMB host Richard Madeley asked Siva how he was coping following Tom's passing, at the age of 33.

Siva said: "To be honest, I'm just living day by day.

"Sometimes it's very difficult. Mostly I look back and smile."

He added: "He taught me so much about life and not to be afraid - that's one of the reasons I am doing the show."

Opening up about Tom's positivity, he added: "He had a positive attitude for the future - that's one of the gifts he has given me, that he has given us all."

Earlier in the episode, Siva admitted he didn't know why he had signed up for Dancing On Ice, and joked he had asked his manager if he could change his mind.

He then admitted his only experience on an ice rink was skating with a toy penguin for support - and had never skated unsupported.

Yet he admitted bandmate Jay, who triumphed on Strictly, would be on-hand in the studio for support.

He added: "Jay has given me some words of encouragement which have been very invaluable.
