SUPERHERO Benedict Cumberbatch has swapped his Doctor Strange red cape for abseiling and deep sea adventures in a new show.
Benedict has teamed up with survival expert Bear Grylls in Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge.
The show, which is currently streaming on Disney + sees celebrity guests learn essential survival skills from Bear that they must master and then prove they can use in a high-stress situation.
Previous guests on the National Geographic show include Natalie Portman, fellow Marvel star Simu Liu and Florence Pugh.
In the most recent outing, Benedict was presented with an extraction mission aboard a British Royal Navy nuclear submarine near Scotland's Isle of Skye.
Used to be around stunts and danger, the star was moved to tears by the challenge's close link to a family member.

The Imitation Game actor's grandfather was a World War II submariner, and on taking on this challenge, he felt "interestingly connected" to him.
He said: "I feel interestingly connected to my grandfather, and it's very moving. I'm tearing up now.
"My grandfather has been playing in my mind over the last couple of days and I felt a very immediate connection to him. And to see the submarine was very much an 'Oh my God' shock moment.
"It was amazing. I was so moved. The last couple of days have been extraordinary, what an experience."

Benedict admitted: "It's not the same as doing the stunts on a Marvel film.
"It's a lot more real."
Bear had The Power of the Dog actor abseiling sea cliffs, braving freezing waterfalls, camping outdoors, and more as they survived the cold Scottish winter - which was when the show was filmed.
The episode was filmed over two days, it is safe to say he had never had an experience like it.
