Emmerdale fans heartbroken as Lydia Dingle and ex Craig make poignant promise ahead of harrowing rape storyline

EMMERDALE fans have been left heartbroken after Lydia Dingle opened up to her ex Craig ahead of her harrowing rape storyline.
Viewers of the ITV soap know that Lydia is to be attacked by her ex in a hard-hitting storyline.
However, unknowing of what is to come, Lydia has been doing her best to make Craig feel included when it comes to their deceased son, Toby, who she never told him about.
In tonight's episode, the pair grew closer as Lydia offered to take Craig to the bridge where she had scattered Toby's ashes.
The pair were reflective as they discussed how the death had affected Lydia and the shock that Craig faced when he found out recently.
Lydia said to him: "This is where I scattered Toby's ashes.
"I thought this might have been the sort of place he'd ran up and down."
The pair were calm with one another as Lydia opened up on her miscarriages she had suffered in later life when Craig asked why she did not go onto have more children.
It appeared the two had found a real common ground with one another and they later made a poignant promise to one another.
Craig said to his ex: "Maybe we can make a regular thing of it?
"Like, on his birthday, take him a toy or some flowers so he'll know his parents are always thinking of him."
Thrilled at the suggestion, Lydia replied: "I'd really like that."
It left fans saddened at Lydia showing her vulnerability knowing what is to come.
Writing on X, formerly Twitter, one said: "Don’t get too comfortable with him Lydia, he’s bad news."
Another added: "Not looking forward to what’s going to happen to poor Lydia!!!!"
Whilst a third penned: "Oh Lydia, you need to step back a bit, his going to take all those signals the wrong way."
