Shocking new details emerge about Freddie Flintoff’s horror crash that left star seriously injured

THE horror crash that seriously injured Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff happened when he was driving at just 22mph.

The former cricketer, 45, was left with horrific wounds on his face last year after the crash whilst filming for BBC show Top Gear.

But insiders revealed that the star’s car was only ‘crawling’ along at 22mph.

It comes after The Sun on Sunday previously revealed Flintoff was not wearing a helmet when he flipped the motor, a Morgan Super 3, over the first bend of a track at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome, Surrey last December.

A source : “People talk about this ‘high speed crash’ but although the consequences were horrendous, it was no such thing.

“The car was actually going at 22mph when it flipped over. There is a lot of footage and it has been carefully looked at.”

They also revealed how there was no fault with the car, whilst Beeb bosses are still scrambling to find who is to blame.

The source added: “The car is road legal without a helmet – it has a halo safety device – and he was on a private track.

“They had only just set off and were on the first corner when the car flipped and he scraped his face along the tarmac.”

After topping the car, some Top Gear staff were left so traumatized that they needed counselling.

And BBC bosses are now left denying reports that the show is set to be scrapped.
