Lucy, 53, and Martin, 60, hosted the show together for thirteen years and are beloved by fans.

The duo caused a huge stir of excitement when they shared a snap from their reunion on X, formerly Twitter, last night.

In the glam photo, Martin and Lucy posed together in front of a huge cake with blue frosting. It had houses made out of icing on the sides and on the top celebrated the 20th anniversary of Homes Under the Hammer.

“Back with my screen wife,” Martin wrote alongside the snap.

Posting it on her own account, Lucy added: “A trip down memory lane last night. Celebrating twenty years of Homes under the Hammer.”

Lucy announced that she was leaving the show in 2016, 13 years after it launched. However, she continued to recur in new episodes until 2022.

She changed lanes earlier this year when she began presenting on Channel 4.

Speaking of her decision to step away from Homes Under the Hammer, Lucy told Metro that she “felt it was her time” to go.

She explained: “I never wanted to leave the show in the first place, but I got offered a really lovely commercial deal and I’d done 14 years nearly at Homes Under the Hammer.

“I felt like my time had come and then I got offered a few other lovely shows, so I did kind of think, ‘let’s fold this up now.’”

After seeing last night’s celebratory snap, viewers were quick to call for Lucy to return to the home renovation show.

“Great picture of you both. Miss Lucy being on the show, I wish they world bring her back,” one fan said.

“The original dream team! You suit each other,” added another.

A third said: “I’ve loved watching you both over the years!”

“It’s not the same without you, Lucy!” a fourth fan agreed.

“We miss you both together!” said a fifth.

“In my opinion, it should always be you two on the programme,” a sixth commented.

In 2016, Dion Dublin stepped in to co-host the BBC One show with Martin.

However, Homes Under the Hammer fans may get their wish, as Lucy’s return could definitely be on the cards.

“I think it’s very much a case of I could return and it would be fantastic. I would love it and I think the viewers would love it,” Lucy revealed.

She added: “Homes Under the Hammer is just in my DNA. I birthed that show. I was the first ever presenter on it. I did it for 14 years — I love that show.”

In an ideal, Lucy said she’d like to present both Homes Under the Hammer and A Place in the Sun.

Lucy called the Channel 4 show a “fantastic” experience.

“I love getting close to people that want to buy property. Property is my passion. It’s the love of my life,” she said.
