Programme makers Studio Lambert confirmed the programme would be launching on BBC One in January 2024.

It means that no full series will have aired this year with the first edition previously having occupied the month of December on the Beeb.

Viewers have been chomping at the bit to get their hands on the new series fronted by Claudia Winkleman but the latest news has left them frustrated at having to wait more than a full year in between editions.

It also left many complaining that it did not make sense as they had labelled it a "Christmas show", given that it led the BBC's festive TV last year.

Hitting out at the decision to delay the series, one fan penned on X - formerly Twitter: "Awh man! I was looking forward to this at Christmas! Devastated!"

Another added: "JANUARY?! This is a CHRISTMAS show?!"

Someone else wrote of the reality hit: "It fitted into the festive period so well, it became the talk of every gathering and Christmas party!"

Before a fourth exclaimed in shock: "January!?"

It is likely that the BBC has opted to amend the schedules owing to the fact MasterChef: The Professionals is still airing as is Survivor, despite it struggling to win a big audience.

The lack of World Cup coverage this year could have also played a factor.

Further details surrounding the series are yet to be revealed including the players who will have to try and lie their way to a cash prize.
