Traitors launches brilliant new spin-off podcast for second season with top comedian at helm

The spin-off host said they were 'obsessed' with series one

THE Traitors' hotly-anticipated second series is inching closer - and there will be a change to its spin-off podcast.

The BBC reality show was a revelation when it aired for the first time last year, and the broadcaster has pulled out all the stops to ensure season two is bigger and better.

A spin-off podcast has been introduced for fans to mull over all the trials and tribulations as the contestants plot and scheme for a big money prize.

But regular host Claudia Winkleman won't be at the helm, instead comedian Ed Gamble has been lined up for the gig.

The stand-up star and presenter said: "The first series of The Traitors was my absolute obsession, and I cannot wait to delve deep into series two and dissect all the twists and turns it has to offer. It goes without saying that I am 100 percent faithful."

Louise Kattenhorn, Commissioning Executive for BBC Sounds, said: "The Traitors is a show that EVERYONE is going to be talking about and this visualised podcast will be like joining the ultimate group chat, with cast members and celebrity guest fans revelling in all the drama and gameplay along with superfan Ed Gamble.

"On top of that, we have footage of the moment banished and murdered players found out who the Traitors were amongst them - I can't wait!"

While Suzy Grant, Executive Producer at Listen said: "Just like The Traitors we've been keeping our own secret and we're delighted to be making the official visualised podcast. 

"At Listen we're taking companion podcasts to the next level in this hugely ambitious new show which will demonstrate the real power of podcasting. 

"The special full-length version will go live on BBC Sounds and then alongside will broadcast on BBC Two and available to stream on iPlayer. There's nothing out there like it and we can't wait to start recording, cloaks optional."

The main programme, which will continue to be hosted by Claudia, pitches a collection of Faithfuls against Traitors in a stunning Scottish castle in the Highlands.

Twenty two contestants are each unaware of their co-stars' true identities in what is considered the ultimate game of deception and betrayal.

for series three such is the Corporation's confidence in the project.

The Head of Entertainment at the BBC, Kalpna Patel-Knight, shared: "The massive unscripted hit The Traitors will be back for a third series.

"Expect to see more psychological gameplay, exciting challenges and of course Claudia at the helm. It will be a thrilling ride for both avid fans and newcomers to the series for sure. The BBC will always remain faithful to The Traitors."
