The series sees celebrities from all corners of the showbiz world don elaborate character costumes and then sing their hearts out.

Viewers - and the show's panel - then have to try and figure out who is behind the mask based on their voice and clues given throughout each show.

Fans of The Masked Singer will need to get their notebook and pen ready to write down their theories, as the new series returns on Saturday, December 30.

The panel remains the same for the new series, with Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross all returning.

However, pop star Rita has also joined the US version of the show, and it means she will be unable to film some of the UK episodes.

In her place, the rest of the panel will be joined by guest stars, with The Sun previously revealing Jennifer Saunders will be one of them.

Meanwhile Olly Murs - who was recently dropped from The Voice UK panel - will also appear on the new series.

Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment at ITV, previously said: "The Masked Singer has once again established itself as unmissable event television, keeping the nation guessing throughout its glorious eight-week run.

"We’re already counting down to see who’s hiding behind those infamous masks and look forward to welcoming the series back next year."

The Masked Singer returns on Saturday, December 30 at 7pm on ITV1.
