What do we know about the Coronation Street Christmas episode so far?

It's been teased that there is going to be a big Christmas shock for Todd Grimshaw and Chesney Brown.

Paul Foreman and Billy Mayhew are set for a relaxing day but Chesney and Gemma Winter-Brown are worried when Gemma can't get hold of brother Paul.

Chesney and Todd rush over to the flat and break down the door thinking he may have fallen but they get more than they bargained for.

Meanwhile, Bernie Winter video calls the family from prison, and together the family sings Away in a Manger together.

However, Boxing Day looks to be just as dramatic as Peter leaves the cobbles for good.

Explaining what viewers can expect, Coronation Street's producer Iain MacLeod said: "There's a huge two-hander between [Peter and Carla] – more or less they are the only two cast in the episode.

"It's a greatest hits compilation for those of you that have been big fans of Peter and Carla since the start.

"It picks over every single detail of who they are, what they've been as a couple, what they want for their future and what happiness looks like for them.

"It's building towards an exit for Peter, which is really brilliant and bittersweet and feels like Corrie at its very best.

"We often think that Peter and Carla are the Burton and Taylor of the cobbles and we want it to have this highly emotional, very nuanced and realistic ending, which I think is what the writers have achieved."
