‘It was my highlight!’ rage fans as Gladiators returns with huge element missing

GLADIATORS returned tonight with a bang but there was one thing missing from the rebooted series - with fans saying "it was my highlight".
The classic show was back with a stellar line-up of athletes and sports stars and with Bradley Walsh and his son Barney as the new hosts.
Many fans were quick to praise the long-awaited comeback but there were many viewers disappointed that the usual Scottish announcer had been replaced with an English voiceover.
One wrote: "Couldn't they have found a Scottish referee? Hearing that guy going "ConTENderrrrrrrrs!" was the highlight of my Saturdays as a kid."
A second posted: "Needs a more Scottish judge. Not quite the same without "Gladiatorrrrr rrrrreadyyy!"
"If the ref ain't Scottish, they better at least attempt the accent," a third shared.

This viewer commented: "Ref's not even Scottish. Who are the kids going to impersonate in the playground on Monday morning? #Gladiators"
A fifth echoed: "So did we all do the ‘CONTENDERS READY’ in a Scottish accent then?"
While this unhappy viewer added: "This is just awful. Shouldn’t have been remade #Gladiators even the ref trying to do the Scottish accent. Can’t take any more gladiator dancing and pathetic smack talk."
A new generation of mighty Gladiators made their debut on tonight's show - including the likes of Bionic, Fire and Apollo.

The show originally ran on ITV for eight seasons from 1992 until 2000.
The Gladiators OG cast included famous Gladiators like Jett, Wolf and Cobra.
Earlier this week, telly star Bradley revealed that he nearly turned down hosting the Gladiators reboot.
But it wasn’t the next generation of muscle-bound toughies who were scaring him, but working with his son Barney after five series of their travel show Breaking Dad.
He revealed: “I did have to talk dad into doing this, because of what we’d done on Breaking Dad.”
But Bradley shot back: “I was just sick to death of getting thrown off buildings and things like that."
