Owen, who finished second in the jungle to Jill Scott in 2022 and recently filmed his final scenes as Romeo Nightingale in the C4 soap, chronicled his frustration on social media and alleged the dogs were left for three hours.

Filming himself in an underground car park, Owen fumed about people who "don't know how to look after dogs".

"So I finished the radio show over an hour ago and i am now spending my sat night stood by this car because people don't know how to look after dogs.

He then showed a fluffy white dog sat in the driver's seat.

"Poor little dog was barking his head off and has now settled now. No windows [open]."

He then spotted another dog in the back stuck in a tiny crate.

"These poor dogs man, look at that one in the back in that tiny little cage. I don't know how long this car has been there. I know it's not that hot so it's technically not as bad but it's still bad, man. You can't leave dogs in a car with no windows open."

Owen's video then cuts to the driver arriving back to the car and a confrontation taking place.

"Bro, you left two dogs in there!" an angry Owen shouts.

"Yeah, and?" the man responds as a woman trails behind him.

"I've called the police and RSPCA, no windows open. Look how distressed they are, man," Owen adds.

"What's your f***ing problem, stop videoing me," the man then says as he grabs one dog by the neck and attempts to grab Owen's phone.

Is it illegal to leave your dog unattended in a car?

Here is what the RSPCA says on the matter...

While it is not illegal to leave your dog unattended in a car it is strongly advised that you avoid this at all costs - especially during the summer.

According to the , it takes just 6 minutes for a dog to suffer heat stroke in a hot car and die .

Heatstroke is the worst-case scenario. This occurs when an animal’s inner body temperature rises above the normal range, leading to .

It is also important to know that no measures you take can prevent heatstroke if your dog is left in a car – leaving the windows down, parking in a cool spot in the shade, tinting glass windows or leaving water in the car only offer a false sense of security.

Dehydration is another risk of dogs being left in cars. This occurs when an animal is unable to replace lost body fluids (water and electrolytes) that are essential for healthy functioning. Dehydration can quickly become a medical emergency and contribute to heatstroke. The secondary effects of heatstroke are widespread, affecting the cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, nervous and muscular systems. Dogs who experience heatstroke can be left with serious medical problems such as kidney damage.

Brain damage is another tragic outcome for some dogs who manage to survive heatstroke, usually after intensive veterinary treatment. This condition is life changing for both the dog and their human family.

"Don't touch me bro, I am going to video you," Owen retaliates. "You have got a little cage like that, no respect or apologies to the dogs?"

Owen then chastises the man for holding the dog in the front round the neck.

"How long have you been here?" the man then shouts, before Owen informs him he has been there for two hours.

"F*** off!" the man yells, before driving the wrong way out of the car park.

Owen then delivers a parting shot, yelling: "Learn to look after your dogs, don't leave them in the car for that long just because you want to go for a meal."

Owen added that he was "vexed" by the situation and decided to post after the man became agressive.

He wrote in the caption:  "I wasn’t going to post this but the lack of remorse shown and aggression towards me made me think I should, don’t get dogs if you don’t know how to look after them."

And Owen's followers were quick to congratulate him on standing up for the poor animals.

One penned: "Well done Owen. Them poor dogs. They shouldn't have dogs if they can't care for them like they would children."

A second added: "Some people don't deserve dogs. Makes me so angry seeing things like this. Well done you for saying something."

And a third weighed in: "Honestly well done, thank you for keeping those dogs safe! Xx"
