EMMERDALE fans have raged at the show's writers for turning an iconic character into a 'weak pushover'.
The ITV soap has seen a number of new faces arrive in the village to ruffle the feathers of long-standing residents in recent weeks.
Ruby Fox-Miligan has put the cat among the pigeons in the Dingle family, while this week, Will Taylor's ex-wife Rose Jackson arrived in the village to try and reconnect with daughter Dawn.
Rose had abandoned Dawn when she was a child, leaving Will to try and raise her alone before she ended up in care.
Knowing the family's history, Will's current wife Kim Tate made her feelings towards Rose clear from the off.
She tried to pay Rose £3,000 to leave the village and never return, thinking it was in Dawn's best interests.
However, Rose soon exposed Kim's bribe to a shocked Dawn and Will, and it prompted Dawn to invite her mum to stay at Home Farm until her arm injury healed.
Tuesday's episode ended with Rose goading Kim over the fact she had lost their first head to head.
As she sipped a glass of Kim's vodka, she added: "And if you come at me again, you'll lose again.
"Here's to letting a fox into your lovely little hen house."
But the scenes did not go down well with some Emmerdale viewers, who feel show matriarch Kim is no longer as bad-ass as she used to be for allowing Rose to stay under her roof.
Taking to X - formerly Twitter - one wrote: "As if Kim & Will would let Rose stay. Especially in the same house as the children.
"It's one thing for Dawn to get to know her mum, but opening up the children to potentially an unstable grandmother? Shove her in the B&B, give Bob something to do."
Another added: "Kim would never be so weak as she's portrayed lately."
A third tweeted: "These writers get on my nerves. Why have they turned Kim into a pushover.
"The old Kim wouldn't let anyone talk to her like that and get away with it. Dawn is a cheeky mare, TELLING Kim her mother is staying and not asking her permission first."
Meanwhile a fourth agreed, writing: "as if Dawn can say her mum's moving in , even worse, the woman helping herself to Kim's drink. Kim should've thrown her out…and send dawn with her for her cheek."
