GO Compare ads star Wynne Evans jokes he’s yet to receive any saucy messages — despite losing weight in his training regime.
The Welsh opera singer, 52, who is paired with Katya Jones, 35, was asked if he’d had messages from admirers.
He said: “No, I’m not getting any saucy messages, I’m afraid.
“But I am losing a bit of weight, aren’t I? There’s a bit of timber coming off and the neck is growing.
“I’m nearly down to single digit chins. So, yeah, it’s going alright.”
Wynne said his Go Compare persona — Gio Compario — has given him a thick skin and he’s ready to face tough comments from judge Craig Revel Horwood.
Wynne said: “Look, I’ve been the Go Compare man for 16 years.
“I was the most hated man in Britain at one point, so I don’t think Craig’s going to touch the sides.
“I think it was the first real advert within the age of social networking and people could instantly say what they wanted and it was a new thing, you know?
“You could be angry on social media, you could do whatever you want.
“So it was just one of those things.
“It took a bit of getting used to at the start.
“But actually, after a while it’s just somebody’s opinion.
“So it doesn’t really matter.
“It doesn’t bother me at all.”
The Go Compare adverts undoubtedly changed Wynne’s life.
It was reported he was a paid £450,000 deal for a two-year contract with the company.
