A STAR of Netflix's hit show You has revealed why he overturned his own ban on saucy sex scenes for the show's final ever series.
Actor Penn Badgley has led the show since its inception on the streaming service but has shied away from getting down and dirty on-camera for the past two series.
He has now ripped up the rulebook in order to give his character Joe Goldberg a top-tier send-off.
Penn featured in a slew of saucy scenes during the first two series but then gave up romping on-camera out of respect for his wife.
However, he has since decided that in order to give the show a "proper conclusion," he needs to head back to the bedroom to spice things up for the final series.
In a new interview with , Penn confessed that he “had to throw that out the window” for the necessity of the show.

Speaking about his decision to resume the sex scenes, he told the publication: "As I always said, I said, my desire is that least as possible, but if it’s necessary, that’s the show we all sign up to make.
"So, let’s make sure it’s vital, let’s make sure it’s important, it’s deliberate. And we did.”
He admitted he had to "return to form" as a result of Joe being a "romantic icon" by reeling his victims in with his charm.
In 2023, Penn opened up about his decision to cutback the raunchiness in his work.

He revealed: “I asked Sera Gamble [You's showrunner] can I just do no more intimacy scenes.
“This is actually a decision I made before I took the show. I don’t think I have ever mentioned it publicly.
"One of the main things was, do I want to put myself back on a career path where I’m always playing the romantic lead?”
Penn continued: “Fidelity in every relationship, including my marriage, is important to me.
“It’s got to the point where I don’t want to do that. So I said to Sera, ‘my desire would be zero, to go from 100 to zero.’
"But I signed this contract. I signed up for this show. I know what I did. You can’t take this aspect out of the DNA of the concept.
"So how much less can you make it, was my question to them. She didn’t even bat an eye.
"She was really glad that I was that honest. She was sort of almost, I want to say empowered, it had a really positive response. They came back with a phenomenal reduction.”
In the fifth and final series, which is now streaming, viewers will see Joe embarking on an affair with a young woman named Bronte, played by Madeline Brewer.
