The Walking Dead casts new character Princess as stage is set for journey to the Commonwealth
THE Walking Dead has cast a new character called Princess just as the stage is set for the journey to the Commonwealth.
The latest casting was announced at New York Comic Con with showrunner Angela Kang, creator Robert Kirkman and cast member Jeffrey Dean Morgan among the panel.
Actress Paola Lazaro will play Juanita Sanchez/Princess, which is one of many new characters joining in the 10th season, which began on Sunday night in the US.
Her arrival could mean a major storyline from The Walking Dead comics could end up on screen.
In the comic book, Princess joins Michonne and the rest of the group as they journey towards the Commonwealth.
Viewers will know the Commonwealth was hinted at during the series nine finale, after a mysterious voice transmission came over the radio in the final moments.
Other new characters to arrive in the AMC post-apocalyptic horror series in season 10 include Whisperer Gamma, played by Thora Birch and Dante, played by Juan Javier Cardenas.
Viewers will get to see more of Gamma in the second episode of the season, which is set to concentrate on The Whisperers and their latest member.
Called We Are The End Of The World, the backstory of Alpha and Beta will be explored.
During an intense discussion, Beta is seen dominating Alpha and running a knife over her bald head.
He tells her: "We are far from the enemy, their fear will subside. It's time that the pack returns.
"The others have spoken of the life they saw, she unsettles the pack."
Alpha replies: "There is clarity amid the chaos. Do you doubt me?"

As Beta insists he 'never' doubts her, the initiation of new member Gamma is seen.
The new character is played by Thora Birch, with her signing announced at San Diego Comic Con in July.
Gamma has been described as a "Whisperer sentry fiercely protective of Alpha", but she could prove to be the catalyst for a divide among the group.
