DAVID James has denied being romantically involved with his Strictly Come Dancing partner Nadiya Bychkova.

The former footballer, 49,  and stunning Nadiya put on yet another cosy display as they arrived at the Pride Of Britain Awards together this evening.

But speaking to The Sun Online on the red carpet tonight, David insisted: “No romance, no. That wasn’t part of the deal. But she’s a great teacher.”

Nadiya, 30, looked incredible for the occasion wearing a very daring black dress which featured sheer panelling down the front and sides.

The sexy number showed off her dancer’s figure perfectly and made sure she stole the show.

The pair were booted off the show a couple of weeks ago when their Their Jive to Such a Night by Michael Bublé landed them in the dance off against Mike Bushell and Katya Jones.

The judges were agreed on saving Mike and Katya, resulting in David being sent home from the competition.

After leaving David said: "Oh I’ve loved it. I feel so bad I’ve let Nadiya down in a sense. I’ve enjoyed it but I’ve put some weight on though."

While on the show David - who's in a relationship with childhood sweetheart Amanda Salmon - and Nadiya were praised for their chemistry both on and off the dance floor.

The sports star previously shut down speculation about the curse – insisting it was all professional.

He told the : "My view is that, in life itself, if two people are attracted to each other then something might happen, and it doesn’t need to be Strictly that causes that.

"I think the situation with Nadiya and myself… there’s a goal in this.

"Nadiya is a fantastic teacher, I want to be a fantastic student, but we’re on Strictly Come Dancing, not Love Island or some other show where people get themselves together.

"As I said, I think the chemistry between the two of us is perfect because we know what we’re here for and we’re enjoying the process, even though being in the dance-off isn’t fun.”

  • The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB, will broadcast on ITV on November 5 at 8pm.
